GuestHouse
Transforming 2 childhood bedrooms into guest bedrooms.
ORIGINAL PLAN
These spaces were cluttered, out of date and had impractical storage spaces, different tones of wood gave the impression of inconsistency. The brief was to give these 2 rooms a new lease of life, to be comfortable and fresh but keeping some traditional features.
NEW PLAN
These spaces became uniform through the use of colour and transformed the room into 2 cosy double bedrooms, Middle room even had the option to fit 2 single beds if hosting more people. Details such as the traditional cast iron style radiators were nice statement pieces. Whilst the minimalist style of furniture, low beds with simple bedside tables, gives the impression of more room.
Stage 1 : Out with the old…
Removing an awkward cupboard, that was hiding even more awkward pipework. Installing a new wall with sound deadening insulation and wifi booster outlets.
Progression
Cornish houses are renown for being a bit awkward, but with us, we come with you every step of the way to fix those 'quirky' issues.
The floors to these bedrooms were very thin, therefore, we needed to find a solution to making these bedrooms feel more private. We worked with 'Excell 15 Acoustic underlay' to make sure sound did not travel through the floor and walls.
Stage 2 : Decorating
The client wanted a calming colour palette for their guests to enjoy a relaxing experience. ‘Cooking Apple Green’ and ‘Dix Blue’ from the Farrow & Ball range complimented each other for these two bedrooms, creating individual spaces, but having similar themes that reflected the business.
The original rooms had too many different wood tones, therefore, by painting the ceiling it isolated the walls better for the colours to really stand out.
Commission
For this particular bedroom, we suggested a dynamic embellishment to the new feature wall, giving the space more of a unique twist than just a lick of paint.

Refurbishment
Mood board to get the client inspired to how we could make these spaces more light and airy. Additional elements, such as plants, interesting textiles of use of rugs and carpets could be a way to create more consistency.
